Eutzler/Hollingshead cemetery receives much needed "makeover!"

Under Construction

100 tombstones, 343 fragments, and one very large jigsaw puzzle! Over the years the Eutzler/Hollingshead cemetery has suffered abuse, neglect and even rumors of satanic worship. The township has hired "Graveyard Groomers," a business founded in 1996 to restore the cemetery back to a state that is more respectful of those who are buried there. John Walters, Micky Walters and Danny Faris of "Graveyard Groomers" took on the job in March of 2005 and vast improvements were presented at a Memorial Day Ceremony.

John Walters explains fixing tombstones.John Walters stated, "This is the toughest we've done because the pieces were so scattered." The township decided to spend some of it's annual budget on the project because there is history written in those gravestones, and as former Trustee Mike Hayes said, "It's just plain disrespectful to have a cemetery in such a mess." The earliest grave in the Eutlzler/Hollingshead Cemetery dates back to 1831, and there are a couple of Civil War veterans buried there.

Graveyard Groomers found the pieces, located the graves and then pieced together the tombstones as much as possible after cleaning them up. Click on the images below to see more pictures of this process.
